Body Parts ESL Flash Cards Game Ideas and Tips
The plural ‘s’ is highlighted in red so that you can point out singular and plural to your students.
The Treasure Hunt game and the Toy Car game are both good games for this and any flash card set but I usually review body parts with the Slap game.
The Slap game is another multi-purpose game that you can use with any flash card set. Basically, you just put a few or many cards face up on the floor and students have to touch the card you say as fast as possible.
It is not fair to have some children with their hands hovering close to the cards so most teachers have children put their hands on their heads. That way all children can start from the same position.
Instead of only starting with their hands on their heads, you can have them rest their hands on other body parts. This way you can review body parts every time you play the Slap game with any flash card set.
For example, “Everyone touch your knees. Where is the “elephant?” (or whatever flash card set you are using).
TIP: Try to use multiple language targets everytime you play a game or do any activity. More targets offers more review in a variety of contexts.
